Welcome to St James CE Primary School
Working together to achieve excellence within a caring Christian community of faith, hope and love.
A Warm Welcome to St James (Daisy Hill) CE Primary School
It gives me great pleasure as Headteacher of St James, Daisy Hill, to welcome you to our school and introduce our bright, busy and exciting Christian school community. I hope that by using our school website you will get a picture of our vision, aims and the values that we uphold.
From the moment that you step into St James you will find us to be a caring school, full of happy, friendly children who are polite, engaged in their learning and evidently proud of their school. We have high expectations at St James and our staff work hard to ensure that all children are encouraged and supported in developing good learning behaviour and the social skills to equip them for the journey ahead.
I am passionate about ensuring that every child at St James reaches their full potential and I hold a firm belief that all children can and will succeed and achieve. As the Headteacher I am committed to ensuring that all of the children love coming to school every day and experience a rich and diverse curriculum that is exciting, engaging and inspiring.
At St James we believe that a strong partnership between home and school is the best foundation for a positive and successful education. Our parents and carers share this view and we work together to make each child’s experience as fulfilling as possible ensuring highly successful outcomes for all of our children.
We are extremely proud of our school and warmly welcome visitors. We hope that we will meet you soon.
With best wishes,
Catherine Watkin
Headteacher

St James Open Day Video
Unfortunately, we are unable to show prospective parents around our wonderful school at the moment. Instead, we have produced this video which we hope will give you an insight into the St James family and our caring, child-centred ethos and values. We are incredibly proud of all the children and their families, our staff, governors and the whole wider school community and we think it captures St James perfectly!
Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to find out more or if you have any questions at all, no matter how small they might be.
A huge thank you to everyone who participated in the making of the video.
Teach Well School Gold Coronavirus Pandemic Award
We are delighted to announce that St James has been awarded the ‘Teach Well School Gold Coronavirus Pandemic Award’ from the Teach Well Alliance in recognition of the exceptional efforts and support that the school has provided to look after the physical and mental wellbeing of staff during Covid-19.
It also reflects the staff’s support and encouragement of each other, as well as all of the children and their parents and carers, during this exceptionally difficult and challenging time.

Technology & Home Learning Policy
The National Computing Curriculum states that children should be able to use technology safely, respectfully, and responsibly keeping personal information private, recognise acceptable or unacceptable behaviour and identify a range of ways to report concerns about content and contact.
This statement is also valid during the current situation where learning is not possible in the normal way. As a result, the use of technology may well become the main method for learning across St James (Daisy Hill), as groups or individuals may not be present in school.
This policy applies to all members of our school community who have access to and are users of St James (Daisy Hill) IT systems and online resources, both in and out of school.
