A Warm Welcome to St James (Daisy Hill) CE Primary School

Working together to achieve excellence within a caring Christian community of faith, hope and love.

It gives me great pleasure as Headteacher of St James, Daisy Hill, to welcome you to our school and introduce our bright, busy and exciting Christian school community. I hope that by using our school website you will get a picture of our vision, aims and the values that we uphold.

From the moment that you step into St James you will find us to be a caring school, full of happy, friendly children who are polite, engaged in their learning and evidently proud of their school. We have high expectations at St James and our staff work hard to ensure that all children are encouraged and supported in developing good learning behaviour and the social skills to equip them for the journey ahead.

I am passionate about ensuring that every child at St James reaches their full potential and I hold a firm belief that all children can and will succeed and achieve. As the Headteacher I am committed to ensuring that all of the children love coming to school every day and experience a rich and diverse curriculum that is exciting, engaging and inspiring.

At St James we believe that a strong partnership between home and school is the best foundation for a positive and successful education. Our parents and carers share this view and we work together to make each child’s experience as fulfilling as possible ensuring highly successful outcomes for all of our children.

We are extremely proud of our school and warmly welcome visitors. We hope that we will meet you soon.

With best wishes,
Catherine Caldwell-Jones
Headteacher

Our Christian Values

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.

Corinthians 13:13

As a Church of England school, with close links to St James Church, we have a strong Christian ethos at St James.

This is based upon a half-termly programme of Christian values that guide our worship, enhance our curriculum and strengthen our links with families and the wider community.

Our values have a strong Christian focus, with their roots in the bible, which support our children in developing a strong moral code.

Our twelve values are:

generosity, compassion, courage, forgiveness, friendship, respect,

thankfulness, trust, perseverance, justice, service, truthfulness

Our current Home School Value is Perseverance.

Our new Home/School Value for this half-term is ‘Perseverance’. We are promoting this crucial value both in school and through you – our families at home.

Please download the file below for ideas about ways you can help to share this Christian Value with your children and please let us know how you have done this or send examples into school for our Class Worship areas.
