Our Christian Values

As a Church of England school with close links to St James Church we have a strong Christian ethos at St James Daisy Hill. We have a half-termly programme of Christian values to guide our worship, enhance our curriculum and strengthen our links with families and the community.  All the values chosen have a strong Christian focus with their roots in the bible which support our children in developing skills to be thoughtful and effective citizens with a strong moral code.

At the end of each half term all the staff and children come together in church to celebrate our value achievements throughout the half term.

Worship

Worship is interactive and the children enjoy taking part in the acting out of the stories shared from the Bible. Our children respond well and learn a great deal from this experience. However, worship themes aren’t just restricted to our collective times in the hall – Worship is also taken back into the classroom and is reflected in each and every child in school through fantastic teaching. Each class has a worship area where children can engage with prayer and showcase our Christian Values.
Our children also regularly attend St James Church for special services. These include Key Stage services once per half term and whole school services to celebrate significant Christian festivals and recognise our commitment to our whole school Christian Values. The children take part in Worship every day. On Friday mornings, everyone takes part in our Celebration Worship, where we share our successes from the week and rejoice in our achievements. We celebrate our Christian Values, Star of the Week Awards, Class Dojo points, excellent ‘golden’ behaviour and children’s birthdays. Children can also bring in any personal achievements from home to celebrate and share.

Our School Prayer

O Lord bless our school
St James Daisy Hill
That working together
And playing together
We may learn to serve you
And to serve one another
For Jesus’ sake
Amen

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come,
your will be done
on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.
Lead us not into temptation
but deliver us from evil.
For the Kingdom, the power,
and the glory are yours
now and forever.
Amen.

Our School Hymn

On we go, on we go
Forward together
Following, following Our Lord
Anywhere, everywhere, the world is ours
Travelling the wide open highway
Sharing our troubles along the way
Knowing we’re not alone
For Jesus is with us every step of the way
He’s our guide
So onward we go
(Repeat)
