World Book Day 2018

World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and (most importantly) it’s a celebration of reading. It’s the biggest celebration of its kind, with over 100 countries taking part across the world.

The main aim of World Book Day is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading. It’s all about getting children closer to the books and authors they already love, and letting them discover more books and authors they’ll love every bit as much in the future.

World Book Day at St James

To celebrate World Book Day the children at St James took part in a wide variety of exciting activities. They also took the opportunity to dress up as their favourite characters.

A selection of children in Year 5 share short extracts of their favourite stories.
