Sports Premium

What is the Sports Premium?

The Government is providing additional funding of £150 million per year to improve the provision of PE and sport in primary schools. The funding is being jointly provided by the Departments for Education, Health & Culture, Media and Sport, and will see the money going directly to primary schools for them to spend on improving the quality of sport and PE for all of their children. At St James Daisy Hill, we will receive £18,950 this academic year, to spend on improving sport and PE provision in our school.

Swimming Lessons at St James

Our Year 4 children attend swimming lessons during the Summer Term. During these sessions the children work towards achieving the Key Stage 2 Swimming Certificate.

In July 2019, 92% of our Year 6 children had achieved their KS2 Swimming Certificate. Any Year 6 children who required extra swimming lessons joined Year 4 children in the Summer Term.
